A 65-year-old document has moved into the electronic age! Chart No. 1, the gold standard for understanding the symbols, abbreviations and terms used on paper nautical charts since 1948, now contains information pertaining to electronic charts. Edition 12, now available from OceanGrafix, is the first “Chart 1” produced by any country to include both paper and electronic symbology.
The 129-page chart, really more of a book, contains symbols specified by the International Hydrographic Organization for the display of electronic navigational charts (ENC) on Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS).
With the new inclusions and a new title, U.S. Chart No. 1: Symbols, Abbreviations and Terms used on Paper and Electronic Navigational Charts, is available via print-on-demand from OceanGrafix and supersedes all previous editions.
